Presenter Bios

Eric Xu
Lead Applications Engineer, Advanced Protection with RTDS Technologies

Bio: Eric Xu joined RTDS in 2009 after graduated from University of Manitoba with the Distinguished Award. Since joined, Eric has been involved in technical support, user training, GTNET models development and Traveling-Wave Relay Testing applications. Eric is a Registered Professional Engineer in the Province of Manitoba and a member of IEEE. He is also a member of IEC Technical Committee 57 Working Group 10 which is the section working on the development of the communication standards for substations – functional architecture and general requirements.

Shane Jin
Simulation & Embedded Systems Engineer, Protection & Automation with RTDS Technologies

Bio: Shane X. Jin received the B.Sc. Eng. (Hons.) degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT), China, and received his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Saskatchewan, Canada. In 2017, he joined RTDS Technologies Inc. as a Simulation & Embedded Systems Engineer in Protection & Automation group. He is a Registered Professional Engineer in Canada and a Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). His research interests include digital real-time simulation, high-speed digital relaying, protection and automation, HVDC protection and control, and embedded systems design.

Dinesh Gurusinghe
Simulation Engineer, Protection & Automation with RTDS Technologies

Bio: Dinesh Rangana Gurusinghe received the B.Sc. Eng. (Hons) degree from the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka, the M.Eng. degree from the Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand and the Ph.D. degree from the University of Manitoba, Canada, all in Electrical Engineering. In addition, he holds the BIT degree from the University of Colombo School of Computing, Sri Lanka and the M.Tech degree from the Open University of Sri Lanka. He has received many prestigious academic awards during his graduate studies.

He worked as an Electrical Engineer at Cruickshanks (now Balfour Beatty Engineering Services) Ceylon Ltd. and Ceylon Electricity Board, Sri Lanka from 2003 to 2008. Since 2015, he has been with RTDS Technologies Inc., Canada, where he is currently a Simulation Engineer. He is a Chartered Engineer in the Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka (IESL), a Registered Engineering Practitioner in the Engineering Council, Sri Lanka (ECSL), a Registered Professional Engineer in the Province of Manitoba, Canada and a Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), USA.

Dr. Gurusinghe has co-authored 25+ journal publications, conference papers and technical reports. His research interests include digital real-time simulation, power system protection and automation, power system stability and control, and power system optimization.

In Kwon Park
Sr. Principal Simulation Engineer, Power Systems with RTDS Technologies

Bio: Dr. In Kwon Park received his bachelor’s and master’s degree in electrical engineering from Yonsei University, Korea. He received his Ph.D. degree in 2012 from the University of Manitoba. His academic advisor was Dr. Ani Gole. Between 1997 and 2002, he worked for LG Industrial systems (currently LS Electric), Korea. Since 2002, he’s been working at RTDS Technologies, Canada. His research interest includes EMTP algorithm, power system modeling, real-time simulation, and embedded systems. He is a registered professional engineer in the province of Manitoba, Canada.
