INTRODUCTORY RTDS® SIMULATOR TRAINING COURSE

Learn more about real-time simulation and its applications during a 5-day, in-person Introductory Training Course. This course focuses on the basics of the RTDS Simulator's hardware and software.

What To Expect 

  • Review the principles of operation of the RTDS Simulator
  • Learn how the electromagnetic transients algorithm is used
  • Discover the RSCAD® Software Suite and its modules
  • Build and run a number of power system simulation cases showing the capabilities and limitations of the RTDS Simulator
  • Use of various I/O cards – GTAO, GTAI, GTDO, GTDI and GTFPI
  • Learn to develop an interface between an external protective relay and the RTDS Simulator for closed-loop testing
  • Use RSCAD’s CBuilder module to create user defined models
  • Use scripts to automate the process of running simulation cases
  • Review the sub-step and UCM capabilities of the RTDS Simulator for modeling power electronic circuit

This training course focuses on System Automation Applications of the RTDS® Simulator in Power System Protection, Automation, and Control. Fundamentals of contemporary power system automation protocols and their applications are highlighted using a specially designed set of Hands-on exercises, including hardware-in-the-loop simulations with the RTDS® Simulator and external IEDs.

    • Payment due upon registration
    • 100% refund for cancellations up to 2 months prior to course start date
    • 50% refund for cancellations up to 1 month prior to course start date
    • No refund for cancellations after 1 month prior to course start date
    • All participants are required to provide their own laptop computer for the training course, and they must download and install RSCAD FX onto their computer prior to arriving for the course. Software installation instructions will be provided one week prior to course start date.
    • An ethernet connection will be required – please ensure you bring an ethernet adaptor if your laptop does not have an ethernet port.
    • A computer mouse is recommended.
    • Morning and afternoon refreshments plus lunch each day is included in the course fees.
