New collaboration agreement with RTE France names RTDS Technologies as the preferred provider of real-time simulation technology

We are thrilled to announce the establishment of a collaboration agreement between RTDS Technologies and RTE – Réseau de Transport d’Électricité.

This is an impactful step for RTE, the French transmission system operator and a renowned global leader in power system research and operational excellence, and RTDS Technologies, the world leader in real-time simulation technology for the power industry. The partnership reflects a shared commitment to innovation and the continuous improvement of critical energy infrastructure. With the largest grid in Europe and over fifty interconnections with neighbouring countries, RTE plays a major role in the French and European power systems.

“RTDS Technologies is honoured to collaborate with the Réseau de Transport d’Électricité – such
a highly respected and influential voice in the power industry. We share their commitment to
excellence in power system modelling and testing and look forward to working with them in such
a critical time in the field of power and energy.”

- Kelly McNeill, CEO, RTDS Technologies

This success is an excellent foundation for the new collaboration agreement between
RTDS Technologies and RTE, which names RTDS Technologies as the preferred provider of
real-time simulation technology for testing new HVDC & FACTS projects at RTE.

“Réseau de Transport d’Électricité is proud to advance its collaboration with RTDS Technologies.
The RTDS Simulator will play a key role in helping us integrate more renewable energy sources,
strengthen interconnections with the European grid, and continue delivering reliable power to everyone.”

- Gabriel Bareux, R&D Director, RTE

RTDS Technologies looks forward to equipping, supporting, and gaining critical insights from RTE as they navigate the energy transition and the increasingly renewable and complex grid. The RTDS Simulator has many applications in de-risking the power system: HVDC & FACTS testing, power electronics simulation to support inverter-based resource integration, wide-area control and protection testing, and even large-scale electromagnetic transient (EMT) simulation which enables a “digital twin” environment to support operation and planning. Combining RTE’s world-class expertise with RTDS Technologies’ state-of-the-art tools is an exciting step in ensuring the sustainability, reliability, and resilience of the French grid and beyond.
