Have you seen IEEE 2004-2025?
The IEEE Recommended Practice for Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) Simulation-Based Testing of Electric Power Apparatus and Controls was recently published. This standard includes best practices for designing and executing HIL tests of power system protection and control equipment with a real-time simulator. Engineers from RTDS Technologies were happy to be among the many valuable contributors to this much-needed standard, which also includes practical examples and use cases.
