MODBUS is used extensively in SCADA systems and other power system automation applications. The RTDS Simulator - the world standard in real-time power system simulation - has long included support for the protocol, enabling users to test MODBUS-compliant devices and schemes in which the RTDS Simulator is configured as a MODBUS server/outstation.
Recently, a new GTNET-MODBUS-V3 component and SCADA Configuration Tool have been made available in the RTDS Simulator's RSCAD FX software. The new component allows the RTDS Simulator to represent a MODBUS client for the first time, and the SCADA Configuration Tool offers a user-friendly environment for configuring MODBUS communication.
