ABOUT INTERNATIONAL MICROGRID SYMPOSIUMS

The goal for the Puerto Rico Symposium on Microgrids is to continue the exchange of findings from microgrid research, demonstration, and deployment across the globe, with a focus on recent developments and opportunities for international collaboration. Recent natural disasters have underscored the importance of adopting an integrated systems approach to manage infrastructure assets. This approach addresses all phases of the resiliency cycle—preparedness, response, recovery, and re-adaptation—to meet the needs of communities. Energy supply and access remain crucial for economic development, community life, environmental quality, and social well-being. The conference will emphasize advances in research and capacity building aimed at enhancing infrastructure resiliency. Alongside microgrids, the event will also cover topics such as multiple hazards, extreme natural events, and Puerto Rico's reconstruction following the significant natural disasters of the past decade.
