Dinesh Rangana Gurusinghe received the B.Sc. Eng. (Hons) degree from the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka, the M.Eng. degree from the Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand and the Ph.D. degree from the University of Manitoba, Canada, all in Electrical Engineering. In addition, he holds the BIT degree from the University of Colombo School of Computing, Sri Lanka and the M.Tech degree from the Open University of Sri Lanka. He has received many prestigious academic awards during his graduate studies.
He worked as an Electrical Engineer at Cruickshanks (now Balfour Beatty Engineering Services) Ceylon Ltd. and Ceylon Electricity Board, Sri Lanka from 2003 to 2008. Since 2015, he has been with RTDS Technologies Inc., Canada, where he is currently a Senior Simulation Engineer. He is a Chartered Engineer in the Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka (IESL), a Registered Engineering Practitioner in the Engineering Council, Sri Lanka (ECSL), a Registered Professional Engineer in the Province of Manitoba, Canada and a Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), USA.
Dr. Gurusinghe has co-authored 25+ journal publications, conference papers and technical reports. His research interests include digital real-time simulation, power system protection and automation, power system stability and control, and power system optimization.
Session Topic: Development of a Co-Simulation Model Combining Real-Time Electromagnetic
Transient Simulation and Transient Stability Simulation
Research Engineer TSA Application | Application Engineer
Harshani Konara received the B.Sc. degree in electrical and electronic engineering from the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka in 2012, the M.Sc. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Manitoba, Canada in 2016, and the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Manitoba, Canada in 2020. She joined RTDS Technologies Inc. in 2019 and currently working as a Research Specialist in the company. Her research interests include power system modeling, real-time co-simulation models, electromagnetic transient simulation, and transient stability analysis of power system.
Real-time simulation is changing the game for power system professionals. Join us at our booth to discuss the latest advancements in real-time simulation and hardware-in-the-loop testing, and learn how forward-thinking users around the globe are applying this technology.
Improve Performance of
Distribution Automation Systems
The RTDS Simulator allows real distribution system assets to be connected to the simulated grid in a closed loop for safe and comprehensive testing, and optimization prior to deployment.
& FACTS Devices
The RTDS Simulator is used by all of the major HVDC & FACTS manufacturers to perform Factory Systems Testing of their control systems, and by utilities to support the pre-commissioning process and de-risk changes through the project’s lifetime.
De-risk WAMPAC Systems
by Simulating PMUs
The RTDS Simulator can stream IEC/IEEE 60255-118-1 compliant synchrophasor data to an external PDC for testing wide area protection and control schemes.
of New Protection Systems
The RTDS Simulator allows protection equipment to be subjected to virtually all possible faults and operating conditions in a controlled, flexible environment.
