CATCH US AT THE 19TH ANNUAL ACDC!

Stop by BOOTH 10 inside the Technology and Innovation Centre (TIC Building) in Glasgow for the 2023 ACDC conference! We’ll be demonstrating new capabilities for real-time simulationTHE GTSOC.

This year, we are proud sponsors of 2023 Welcome Reception!

WHAT TO EXPECT

ABOUT ACDC 2023

“ACDC is the meeting point for power transmission engineers to learn about new challenges in the energy industry, arising from environmental, regulatory, political, and social factors; and how they impact on the development of transmission schemes.” LEARN MORE HERE.

The GTSOC, a new auxiliary hardware for the RTDS Simulator, facilitates the deterministic integration of vendor control models into the real-time power system simulation while protecting intellectual property.

The GTSOC features a powerful FPGA board with multi-processor system-on-a-chip technology to support this challenging application.

The ability to black-box vendor controls and include them in a hardware-in-the-loop testbed is increasingly important for interoperability testing and de-risking inverter-based resources on the modern grid.

Felipe Pedroso
Senior Power System Consultant with MPE

Mr Felipe Pedroso has been working as a Senior Power System Consultant at MPE since 2020. He is responsible for power system analysis studies in several topics such as EMT, dynamic stability, load flow, short circuit, grid code compliance, reactive power compensation strategy, insulation coordination, etc.

In the past few years, he has developed EMT cable, transformer, shunt reactors, and other equipment models, as well as tested OEM supplied models both in PowerFactory and PSCAD. Based on these, full systems were assembled to study several phenomena and ultimately propose optimisation, equipment ratings, insulation coordination design, philosophies of control, reactive & active power, protection, etc.

In 2020-2022 period he has worked with OWFs spanning from 120 MW to 2000 MW, comprising both AC and DC transmission technologies, in several countries and continents. He has also worked with DC offshore transmission links of up to 2800 MW, and provided trainings in renewable energy concepts, modelling, and operation. In this role he is responsible for combining data analysis and scripting to the power system field of expertise, allowing the assessment of results to be based on a bulk number of inputs and generating statistical analyses.

Before joining MPE, from 2014 to 2020, he worked for the Brazilian representative of DIgSILENT and other Brazilian companies in the same field, having performed an extensive number of successful projects for industrial, transmission, and generation sites. He was also responsible for conducting consulting work for major HVDC transmission lines in Brazil, using PSCAD and PowerFactory.

Felipe holds a BsC degree in Electrical Engineering from the Polytechnic School of the University of Sao Paulo (USP), in Brazil, and a MsC in Power Systems – HVDC systems from the same university. Along with his native tongue of Portuguese, he is fluent in English and Spanish.
