Technical Sales Specialist

Department: Marketing and Sales


The Technical Sales Specialist will join a team of experienced technical sales and marketing professionals to participate in the global sales and marketing functions including customer relations, sales proposals, and marketing communication efforts.

Who You Are

  • Minimum Engineering, Technical College, or Business Degree (or equivalent technical experience)
  • 3-5 years of experience in a sales, business development, consulting and/or customer management role. Experience in power systems, power electronics, and/or simulation field is required.
  • Experience with programs such as PSCAD, RSCAD, MATLAB is an asset
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Willing and able to travel internationally (approx. 25-30% travel) when it is safe to do so
  • Foreign language skills considered an asset

What You'll Do

  • Assess customer needs and goals to determine what simulator configuration is best suited to meet the requirements
  • Prepare technical project proposals and commercial quotations for customers
  • Preparation of tenders and offers and follow-up throughout the entire process, including contract review and negotiation
  • Make technical presentations of RTDS products and their project specific application to potential RTDS customers
  • Coordinate and attend demonstrations of RTDS equipment at potential customer sites
  • Coordination of product information and sales documentation in cooperation with technical departments
  • Correspondence with RTDS’ worldwide sales representative network
  • Monitor and participate in customer relations
  • Participate in customer visits, industry trade shows and international conferences dealing with power system simulation and equipment verification/testing
  • Act as project leader under the guidance of the Technical Sales Manager
  • Coordinate and participate in the installation and commissioning of RTDS simulators at new customer sites
  • Provide customer support as needed in the application of RTDS simulator equipment & simulator maintenance assistance to existing customers
  • Other duties as may be assigned
