Open position:

Software Developer

The Software Developer is responsible for the development of all software related to the RTDS Simulator. The Software Developer works as a part of a small team to maintain and enhance RTDS’ front-end software suite. The diverse work includes GUI design, compiler maintenance, and general support of RTDS’ existing code base.

Position Responsibilities

  • Software development in support of the RTDS Simulator using advanced knowledge of C and Java computer programming languages
  • Responsible for project deliverables and daily independent tasks as assigned by Manager
  • Write, modify, integrate and test software code, adhering to coding standards and processes
  • Identify and communicate technical problems, processes and solutions; Prepare reports, manuals and other documentation on the status, operation and maintenance of software
  • Investigate, evaluate, and recommend technologies in the creation of new functionality and products
  • Hands-on troubleshooting, debugging, and fixing issues during development and post-release
  • Ongoing analysis & enhancement of the performance reliability of existing RTDS software
  • Offer assistance and support to customers in areas related to the RTDS software
  • Support in-house model development using RSCAD
  • Work closely with other staff, especially Hardware and Support, to define functional and user-interface requirements and resolve customer issues
  • Other duties as assigned by Management

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Computer Science or related field
  • At least 2 years of industry experience programming in Java and/or C
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals, including data structures, object orient design and testing
  • Familiarity with software development tools like Git, Wrike and Eclipse or other IDEs
  • Experience developing GUI applications using JavaFX or Swing will set you apart
  • Basic understanding of processor instruction set architecture and assembly programming language will be an asset
  • Strong problem solving and debugging skills are required to succeed in this role
  • Basic interpersonal skills are a must
